Production schedule problems

On Thursday 27th September 2012 I attempted to find a hip hop magazine but I failed to find one that I wanted to annotate since most hip hop magazines are produced in the USA. So I had to go to a number of different shops to find one. In the end I ended up annotating old magazines I had but got images of the internet to aid the speed of me completing the case studies by the due date.

I planned my studio photo shoot for 27th November however my models failed to turn up in the correct clothing which I specifically told them to wear via call sheet so I had to rearrange it for 29th  November which didn’t go too well either because I experienced some technical difficulties with the lighting of the photo and the camera taking pictures when I wanted it too due to a full memory card. In the end I took a substantial amount of images in the studio but I figured I didn’t have any photos out of the studio so I planned a placement shoot for 5th december in brick lane with a graffiti background this didn’t go too well because the day chosen to go was particularly busy and there were too many distractions so I didn’t use the images taken.

Evaluation of Mercy Magazine

In this evaluation I will be discussing my brief and what I aimed to achieve from doing this magazine. I will also be talking about my audience, the codes and conventions of a hip hop magazine. I will then evaluate my progress throughout the preliminary task up until the music magazine task and conclude with whether I believe I have completed this task successfully.

Q3) Looking back at my magazine distribution and publishing i have realised that the publishers of my magazine will be any hip hop publication firms that find my magazine appealing and think that the audience will buy the magazine. examples of a publisher that would publish my magazine are the North star group amd vibe media who are both big publishign firms who publish two of the top hip hop magazines.

Audience feedback-Mercy magazine

By doing this audience feedback for my magazine it enabled me to see what worked and what didnt work well for my magazine in order to change/ improve them.
Doing this task also allowed me to see what was liked about my magazine and what areas i could enhance even more to get more of a positive reaction to the audience. i found out that the colour scheme i used showed a different side to the rap artist 'Antz' because typically you would think a rap artist would be angry and the colour yellow shows the opposite which shows how his personality which you dont normally see in a hip hop magazine. this means my magazine doesn't always follow the codes and conventions of a hip hop magazine which challenges the audience.
For the images i tried not to stretch them as much as possible in order to get the best quality images for the whole magazine.
On the contents page i got rid of the text boxes because it made the layout of the magazien look childish and unconventional, i also put page numbers on each page, the page numbers that were on each image i changed to have an invisble background so it wasnt over the image and made the font consistent/the same all the way through the magazine. in order for my magazine to flow properly and look professional i know i need to improve my photoshop skills.

Mercy Magazine

The making of Mercy Magazine!

Front cover so far [Unfinished]
This is my front cover with the model credits, background colour, colour scheme, bar code, wesbite link, dateline and price on it. still thinking of what cover lines to write. Contents so far [Unfinished]
This is the old contents page. it was quite plain and boring and didn't stick with the colour scheme from the front cover so i decided to change it.
This is what my contents page looks like now, im in the process of writing up the main features, the editors note and adding the title of the magazine at the top in a small font. Double page spread so far [Unfinished]
This is my dps in the process of being finished. i still have to interview the artist and to write it up and i also have add some images to it.
This is Anthony (A.K.A "ANTZ") he is my main model who will be on my front cover, contents and dps. i have chosen to interview him personally because i thought it would feel more real and also i thought anthony would give some good answers!
